STUDENT AT RISK?

Student At Risk of Self-Harm Outside of School Hours?



If you and/or your child become aware of a student that may be at risk of self-harm outside of school hours, please DO NOT attempt to contact school personnel outside of school hours.  Staff are not working and may not be checking email or voicemail during these times.  Therefore, vital safety information could easily be missed and students could be placed at greater risk. Instead, please utilize the following step by step guide:

If the risk of self-harm is with your own child

  • call the Maine Crisis Hotline at 1-888-568-1112
  • and/or if safety threat is imminent, call 9-1-1

If the possible risk of self-harm involves another child:

  • If you know the other child’s parents and are comfortable doing so, you can contact this child’s parents to share information directly with them

and/or

  • Call the police and share your concerns

*If child is in direct imminent danger, call 9-1-1

or

Contact Local Police Departments via Non-Emergency Dispatch Centers:

*Topsham, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham Police/Sheriff = 443-9711

*Harpswell/ Cumberland County Sheriff = 893-2810

Any reports to the police can be made anonymously

Your caller ID can be blocked by dialing *67 before number

Share any information you have, such as child’s name, hometown, and the reasons for safety concern
