The Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI) made Maine the first state to seize the potential of technology to transform teaching and learning in classrooms across an entire state. By being the first state to offer a one-to-one laptop program to a group of students, Maine led the charge By offering laptops to 7th and 8th graders and 7th through 12th grade teachers, the idea was to empower teachers and students to find new ways of learning with Technology heading the charge.

In addition to the laptops, Maine was the first state to provide the option of home Internet access to every 7th and 8th grade student in every school statewide.
